At first the world reacted in all the ways in which we always knew we would. We rejoiced, we pleaded, we attacked, we hid, we drank the Kool-Aid. None of it mattered at all to the aliens besides maybe providing them some slight amusement. It reminded me of the articles I used to see about people visiting the “untouched” tribes of the Amazon or wherever they were. I wonder if there were articles like that about our planet before they came here. I bet they laughed at us seeing UFOs and flying jets around the same way we would at those tribes throwing spears at our helicopters.
All things considered, it was a fairly harmless first contact besides what we inflicted upon ourselves.
